She was an attorney in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 1978-1980 and in Paris,
France, 1987-1988, returning to Riyadh in 1989.
Ms. Hanson is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA)
and has served on several committees including the Anti-Counterfeiting
Committee. She is presently Chair of the Middle East Africa
Southwest Asia Subcommittee of the Trade Dress Committee. She is also a
member of the Intellectual Property Law Committee and the Intellectual Law
Committee of the State Bar of California (USA). Ms. Hanson was a member of
the Advisory Board of International Lawyers' News Letter until it ceased
publication. She is
Corporate Secretary of Gulf Consultants for the Protection of Intellectual
Property.
Ms. Hanson has lectured on intellectual property issues for the
Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group (UK), the International Bar Association,
and at a combined WIPO/Bahrain Arbitration Center conference. She has also
spoken before smaller groups on a variety of legal subjects relating to
Saudi Law.
Ms. Hanson is the author of "Silt Deposits in Westlake Lake - A Legal
Study", 1981; She also wrote news updates on Saudi Arabian Legal
Developments for World Law and West International Law Bulletin, 1982-1983.
Her article "The Influence of French Law on the Legal Development of
Saudi Arabia" was published in Arab Law Quarterly, August, 1987. She
is a frequent contributor to Trademark World, Patent World, Copyright
World, Middle East Executive Reports, and Managing Intellectual Property.
She co-authored the Section on Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Jordan's
International Corporate Procedures, 1992. She also co-authored with
Mohamed Hoshan the article "Islamic Law in Saudi Arabia",
published in the California International Practitioner, Vol. 2, No. 2,
September 2002.
Ms. Hanson was educated at the University of Oklahoma obtaining her B.A.
in Economics in 1965 and her M.A. in Economics in 1971. She earned her
J.D. in 1976 from University of San Diego School of Law. U.S.A. and the
Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies in Public Law in 1982 from the Faculty of
Law, University of Tours. She obtained a Diploma in Islamic and Middle
Eastern Law in 1983 from the University of San Diego School of Law,
Institute on International and Comparative Law, Alexandria, Egypt.
